What If I Have a Concern About Bullying?

All students have a right to attend school in a safe, welcoming and caring environment. To help ensure all schools support a school climate where students can learn and focus, New York State passed the Dignity for All Students Act in 2012 which created procedures to ensure every school environment is free of discrimination and harassment. This includes school property such as playgrounds, athletic fields, school buses and school-sponsored events.

Wynantskill UFSD fully supports the Dignity for All Students Act. The Board of Education has adopted a policy to help prevent student harassment and bullying. That policy along with additional information is available here.

If parents have any concerns about harassment or bullying, please report them immediately to Principal Mary Yodis at 283-4600 ext. 10 or Guidance Counselor Amy Murphy at ext. 27.

Where Should I Drop Off My Child for School?

If you drop off your child in the morning, please be sure to use the designated drop off zone. Children should be let out of the vehicle at the “Student Drop Off and Pick Up Area” sign in front of the crosswalk. If there is a line of cars, please wait in the line until you are able to pull up to the drop off spot. This will prevent children from walking between cars where a driver may not be able to see them.

A teacher’s aide will stand at the crosswalk and outside the building door each day from 8:00 to 8:25 a.m. to greet and assist your child. After 8:25 a.m. your student must enter through the front entrance.

Please do not drive your car into the bus loop in front of the building to drop off your child before 8:25 a.m. Only buses are allowed in the loop during this time.

What Should I Do If I Have to Drop Off My Child Late?

If you arrive after 8:25 a.m. you may pull up to the main entrance to drop off your child once buses and children have been cleared. Please accompany your child to the front lobby so you can let Ms. Fazioli know why your student is late.

How Do I Update My Phone Number or Address?

If you have a new phone number, email address or home address, please call the Main Office at 283-4600 ext. 10 to update your information. In the event of an emergency, it is important we have the correct contact information on file. If you are unsure whether Gardner-Dickinson has the correct information, please call the Main Office and Ms. Fazioli can verify for you.

How Do I Check If My Child's Lost Item Is at School?

To help avoid items becoming lost, please label student clothes and other items.
